I help my clients feel confident they are on track for their goals while living a happy, balanced life. We focus on their overall wealth, which we define as not just their money but their time & energy.
We help people who work in the medical field balance the stress of their career with finding ways to enjoy the journey. My wife is a PA who has been int eh ED for close to 10 years and my associate is married to a vascular IR resident so we understand how hard this career can be. Our goal is to build enough to retire on your terms but build a life that is sustainable enough that you can continue caring for your patients as long as you want.
I took a pretty unconventional road to arrive where I am. I grew up on a farm in Upstate New York, before leaving for Hamilton College. I then spent five years teaching outdoor education across the country, and settled in Portland in 2009, earning a MAT from Lewis & Clark College, before going on to teaching middle school social studies for five years.
I made the transition to helping adults with their financial planning because I wanted to help people feel empowered about their futures. I understand that money is not the end-all be-all, but I also know that when people feel good about their futures they are free to be their best selves.
When my wife became a PA I saw firsthand the challenges that face healthcare professionals and their families. We were separated while she was in school, had to work through the student loan she took on, and have to work through the intense emotions involved with working in the emergency department. I decided to make helping healthcare professionals, and other helpers, the focus of my practice. We help manage student debt while balancing the needs to save for the future and have fun today. I love that I can sit across the table from my clients and empathize with the stress they and their families go through both in school and once they are out helping others.
